dmc cassette sleeve (1984)

Almost 9 minutes, stereo with interference. Broadcast on LWR (London Weekend Radio) 92.5 FM, must have been 1986. Some fine enjoyable tracks in here, if you can get over the stereo interference whistles and fuzz. The choice often was between a clean mono recording or a whistly stereo one, and this recording is at the limit of my audio quality threshold. It was also necessary to make constant adjustments to the ribbon antenna, precisely pinning it to the wall and ceiling for the optimum signal, then relocating it for the next station. Like a Tetley teabag, the wallpaper had 2,000 perforations. Big up Peter Missingham for naming these tracks:

  • Level 42: Turn It On
  • Leon Haywood: Don’t Push It
  • The Whispers: And The Beat Goes On
  • Human League: Don’t You Want Me
  • The Whispers: And The Beat Goes On
  • Chic: Good Times
  • D Train: You’re the One for Me

Extra: MarkyDMC sent a scan of the DMC cassette for January 1984 and there’s a mix by Les Adams called ‘Breaks And Bridges’ on there which looks very familiar indeed! (Rich Color)
